“These landscapes have a starting point based on the physical landscape, however, this changes over time. I paint spontaneously and intuitively, painting layer upon layer over time. This can take months or years until completion. Just like nature. The process is centred around the theme of transformation, colour, light, and form as it changes with time. 
 
‘The Space Between’ is an exploration of the perception or sensation of being submerged or mesmerised by a fleeting moment in time – where time itself seems to be still, there is no wanting to be somewhere else or searching for something different - a sense of wholeness. In contrast to the everyday experience of the mind. Time and mind seem to be suspended like a void, where a moment of unexplained 'bliss' or happiness for no apparent reason, like walking in nature, becomes the source of inspiration.
 
Based on this idea, (while) the painting process itself is in a transformed state from what was seen and felt, the focus is shifted and the moment has transformed. Feeling itself becomes the inspiration like a web that connects everything. It is timeless. Ever present while inspired by this sense of bliss that opens an expanded sense of something magical between the spaces of reality."
